Film Review: The Imitation Game

I want you to stop and think for a moment about what your life would be like if the computer had never been invented. No blogging. No Wikipedia. No smartphones. NoYoutube. No video games. Nothing.

Now I want you to go see this movie and learn about the man whose innovations gave it all to us, and the appalling way he was thanked him for it.

Spoil Me Rotten: 5 Faves from How to Get Away with Murder

How to Get Away with Murder comes back tomorrow and I am soo excited. I am honestly completely obsessed with this show. In honor of the winter hiatus finally coming to a close, I thought I would share some of my favorite moments from the first half of the first season. The entire show is practically perfect in every way, so this list is far from exhaustive. These are mostly just the first faves that popped into my head and are not in any particular order.

Book Review: A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

I will openly admit that the number one reason I was so interested in this book is because of how gorgeous the cover is. Is that not one of the most photogenic books you've ever seen? Its seriously working it.

Flawless Foundationless Skin in Three Steps

As promised in last week's post about going foundationless, today I am going to share my tips for achieving flawless no-foundation-required skin. I was a broke out mess less than a month ago; I really wish I had a "before" picture for you because it was downright mutinous. The picture above was taken last night and I solemnly swear to you there is not a dab of foundation on my face.

I've singled out what I believe are the four most essential steps to clearer skin based on the changes I made that I believe led to mine clearing up so nicely so quickly.

First Impressions: January Ipsy Glam Bag

I got my January Ipsy bag a few days ago and decided I would do a first impressions post. As the title implies I haven't used any of the products extensively, so this shouldn't be taken as a review of any of the products; just my thoughts upon receiving them.

A Very Exciting Moment in My Life

Today was kind of a cool day for me. Today, for the first time in I don't know how long, I skipped the foundation step of my makeup routine because my skin is clear enough that it is not entirely necessary. Instead I just brushed on a little blush, did my eye makeup, and called it good. And seriously that felt so, so good.

Veggie Packed Shrimp Stir Fry!

If you'll remember, one of my New Year's resolutions was to work towards a generally healthier lifestyle, and that means actually taking the time to cook real healthy food instead of living off macaroni and cheese. So I've been experimenting with different recipes the past week or so and today I have a super easy, super delicious, super healthy dinner recipe to share with you guys!

Book Review: Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

As you all know from my Barnes and Noble Book Haul post a few weeks ago, I had a few books I wanted to get through during my winter break and Afterworlds was at the top of the stack. If you read that post you also know that I was both very excited and a bit skeptical about this book because of its atypical formatting.

Winter Break in Review

Hey everyone! I know I was pretty inconsistent over my winter break, but I promise I have a totally acceptable explanation. Break has been pretty busy and there have been a ton of blogworthy moments, and rather than posting about them all separately I've decided to put them all into one big masterpost.

New Year's Resolutions and January Goals!

Cliche as it might be, I love the fresh start feeling that comes with the New Year. I love the burst of motivation I get to make changes in my life and the chance to start over and try again, no matter where the previous year left me. My 2014 was admittedly a little rough in some areas of my life, so I am looking forward to the opportunity to make 2015 better. Plus, I feel like 2014 was a whole lot of character development for me, so I am really hoping 2015 will be a bit more plot oriented! ;)

New Year's Resolutions!

  1. Exercise Regularly - yoga is gonna be my BFF this year.
  2. Better Budgeting - I spent way too much money in the last few months. It is definitely time to start consciously budgeting my cash.
  3. Healthy Eating - Joe and I have decided we are cutting pop and fast food out of our diets. I also want to make a real effort to eat better regularly. More fresh food and less frozen dinners. I am also planning to start drinking much more water on a daily basis.
  4. Read at least 20 Books
  5. Blog at least Twice Weekly
  6. Post at least One Video Each Week
  7. Journal Regularly
  8. Schedule "Me Time" into Every Week - an absolute must for any introvert.
  9. Get Organized (and Stay There!)
  10. Write Regularly
As you can see, I like to keep my resolutions kind of vague. I think it is very unrealistic to set specific standards for an entire year, because there are so many factors you can't control. I prefer to set broad goals and then set more specific goals monthly. Here are my goals for January!

January Goals!

  1. Blog 3 Times a Week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
  2. Post a Video Once a Week (Friday starting 1/9/2015)
  3. Get Bedroom and Bathroom Organized
  4. Read 2 Books
  5. Do Yoga 3 Times a Week
  6. Drink at least 2 Water Bottles a Day
  7. Journal at least Twice a Week
  8. Get up at 9am Everyday
  9. Finish my Research Grant Proposal (*deep breaths*)
  10. Get as Far Ahead on Homework as Humanly Possible
I have one other goal for the year, though it is not exactly a resolution. I want to take a picture of myself everyday. Seeing the timelapse videos of people who do this are always so cool, and I would love to see how much I actually change over the course of the year. I especially want to do this since so many of my goals deal with moving towards a healthier lifestyle; I would love to be able to go through the pictures in a few months and see the changes that you often don't notice otherwise. Losing weight is not really an express goal of mine, more of a bi-product of my other goals, but it would still be nice to be able to track my progress that way and see myself getting healthier and stronger over the course of the year!

I hope you all had a lovely New Year's Eve and I wish everyone the very best in the coming year. And I'd love to hear what your resolutions are for 2015!
